TRAMPOLINE TRICKSIf you want to learn trampoline tricks, on your backyard trampoline, all you need is the "progressions".
You see, every trampoline move is a slight variation of another trampoline
move. An example of this is the Barani. The Barani is a front somersault
with a half twist. To "progress" to this trampoline trick, you need to
learn many moves and in this order:
So to jump on your backyard trampoline and decide you are going to learn a
barani, BEFORE you have learned any of the 'progressions' needed to do
this particular trampoline trick, is a crash course in failure and
possible injury! All the previous 'progressions' to a trampoline trick teach you fundamental disciplines. Such as:
Each trampoline trick you learn, right from the very basic bounce, will teach you how to do more advanced moves. Learn one trampoline move WRONG, and an array of more advanced moves will also go WRONG. I learned this the hard way. I was an accomplished trampolinist entering my first competition, when I realized just how BAD I was. I threw my shoulders down in my front somersault. I could not 'kick out' of my somersaults. My arms were just WRONG. And I had managed to 'fudge' my way to higher trampoline levels, even though I could not perform a Barani! I could not perform a barani, because, frankly, I was not performing the previous 'progressions' properly. The answer came to me when I switched clubs and met a new coach. I made the decision to sort out all of my trampoline moves, and started learning how to 'bounce'. Then how to 'stop'. Then how to 'tuck jump, straddle jump and pike jump'. Seat drops and twist jumps came next. My back drop became beautiful (if I say so myself), when I learned how to lift my hips. And eventually I did the front somersault, again and again and again, until I had just perfect. My new coach thought I was a beginner who was a quick learner - but I took my time. Admittedly, I found it very BORING doing these basic trampoline tricks, when I could be doing backward twisting layouts... but I persevered and concentrated on my 'style' and technique. It was not long before I attempted that dreaded Barani, and of course, I am now the expert, teaching everyone else. I have taken from my own experience with How NOT to learn trampoline tricks, and built my course around learning the basic correctly. Give me a student who can do the following trampoline moves perfectly with height and style, and I can guarantee I can teach them every advanced trampoline trick on the planet.
The last 3 tricks are not totally necessary as I could teach these three based on elements of the previous 14 moves if needed. So if you want to learn some cool trampoline tricks (there are about 50 more to learn ), get started with the basics and add one at a time. Skipping a trampoline move if you get stuck (like I did), will result in you being unable to progress to better trampoline tricks and will certainly impair your ability to do any routines, as routines exaggerate your imperfections. It's not necessary to explain how to do each trampoline trick here, as this is precisely what I have done in my ebooks and Instruction DVD. However, one thing is constant when learning all trampoline tricks. You need to tap in to your Core Strength, Use your Arms correctly and aim to take off in the very center and land in the very center of the trampoline bed, no matter what trampoline move you are trying.
