Trampoline Christmas

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

It seems the trampoline was a popular Christmas present this year!

I woke on boxing day to 13 requests ranging from “trampoline set up”, to “Back somersault” help.

Even driving around my own neighborhood, I can see enthusiastic bouncers enjoying their new present!

In addition, everyone seems to want to lose weight for the new year, and I still stand by the fact that the trampoline can seriously accelerate weight loss. Just 10 minutes of routines per day can take off an extra few pounds.

I have been frantically searching for a house with a garden to put my own trampoline (I am currently in an apartment), and as soon as I move in to such house, weight loss routines and additional members area tips will be easy for me to place on the website.

Meanwhile, practice routines… as these help your overall trampoline skills.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY MEMBERS… keep your requests coming!

Cool Trampoline Tricks

Try these trampoline tricks if you wan to learn something new.

Trampoline Trick One:

The Turn-table (front drop, spin to front drop)

This is a cool trampoline trick, but a little hard to describe, so listen up! You need to be able to perform a good front drop with a bit of height. (Remember my online basics course teaches the ‘backward’ motion needed for a front drop).

First, perform you front drop, and instead of landing on your feet, tuck your legs up and stay in the air facing the trampoline and land back on to your front.

To perform the trampoline trick, you need to ’spin’ round so you are facing the opposite direction (half turn). So you front drop, push with your hands, tuck up a little and spin round, landing in a front drop in the opposite direction.

To build up a progression to this trampoline trick, simply aim to get just 1/4 of the way round and improve each time.

Eventually, with a really good front drop and spinning as fast as you can, you may be able to get all the way around so you do a full turn. It looks really impressive!

My personal best is a one and a half turn! Tip: tuck up tight if you want to spin faster.

Trampoline Trick TWO

The Airplane (full twist to front drop)

Again, this involves the front drop. First lean the 1/2 twist to front drop (in my guide, make sure you go backwards).

Then practice your full twist jump. Jump UP, hands above head, body tight, stomach flexed in and bottom clenched. Don’t twist straight off the trampoline or you won’t stay in the middle.

Now try the full twist, and as you come to land, drop to your hands and knees by pushing your bottom back (NOT forward on to your hands - BACKWARDS on to your hands and knees).

To get the full twist in to front drop, keep tight and straight while twisting, but bend your knees and push back to get into the back drop.

Remember, your chest should land exactly where your feet where when you took off.

Full twisting trampoline tricks, always look exciting and clever. As long as you can tap in to your core strength and keep tight while in mid-air, you should find them easy.

I have some more trampoline tricks up my sleeve, so keep posted to this blog!

Trampoline Tricks

Some cool trampoline tricks can be simple extensions of basic skills. For instance, if you have learned a pike jump and 1/2 twist jump, try performing a 1/2 twist jump into pike jump. Or turn a full twist jump into a one and a half twist jump. Or even a double twist jump!

Trampoline tricks are also fun to learn if you have got a little bored with the moves you already know and you are stuck on the next move. Try seeing how many swivel hips you can perform in a row. My record is 26 (seat 1/2 twist to seat) in a row!

Another fun trampoline trick to try is a turntable. This is a front drop, then spinning (horizontally), to face the opposite end of the trampoline and back in to front drop.

To achieve this trampoline trick, try doing a front drop, then tuck and lay back into a front drop a few times in a row. To get the ’spin’, push with your hands and try to tuck up while you turn. The next step is to see if you can achieve a full turn around the trampoline so you are facing in the same direction you started in! This is a fun trampoline trick to learn, but I warn you… wear something over your elbows and knees as they get scraped big time!

Another front drop style trampoline trick, is a full twist in to front drop. (In fact you can also try this for a full twist in to back drop). This is called a Airplane. To achieve this first accomplish the half twist to front drop. Then practice full twist jumps, remembering to bring your legs Backwards into the front drop. It looks pretty impressive and is a cool trampoline trick.

There are many more trampoline tricks to learn when you get into intermediate and advanced trampoline moves, including, The Cruise (a front drop, up to vertical position, 1/2 twist and back to front drop), A Cat Twist (similar to a ‘roller’) back drop, full twist to back drop. Or the Corkscrew, back drop - One and Half twists to back drop. (Similar to the the cradle, but with a whole extra full turn!).

Now all these trampoline tricks are HARD, and I haven’t even mentioned a somersault!

Lots of practice needed, and these particular moves are aimed at impeccable core strength ability, so they keep your tummy very trim.

Good luck with these trampoline tricks!
